Orpaned Heart Empowerment Center (OHEC) Jinja, Uganda

The Jimja area where Orphaned Heart Int'l wstablished its first agricultural Empowerment Center has one in four living in abject poverty.  Now, the local starvation and malnutrition iha significantly reduced thanks to the generous food sharing and bartering progam with the villagers.. The revenues generated by the two acres of cocoa beans serves to significantly help support the manywidows and orphans that live on the grounds at the "House of Mercy" Life Center aka H.O.M.E. All work on the farm once thay reach 10 years of age.

OHEC is a fully functioning 14 acre farm that ahas 1200 Chickens, Pigs, Goat and, Cows. Crops include corn, cocoa beans, sweet potatoes, bananas, The facility hosts a canopy tent, generator and sound system which seats 100 for church services, conferences and community meetings. This has already been used for Uganda government sponsored agricultural training seminars,Anglican Church Pastoral conferences, polical campaigns, local Evangelistic Festivals and Worship Nights. Rental income from the tent is ued to support the Agricultural operations

But that's not all. Eggs and other organic food grown is used to feed 135 students at a nearby Christian school which educates many of the orphans living at the OHI Life Center (capaciity 100) as well as students from the 184 poor families living in the nearby village. The local area is being transformed by OHEC by supple,enting there\\ir diets with good wholesome food while serving as a great agricultural model for individual families to learn how to grow small gardens and have a few chickens to feed themselves.
