The OHI Life Center Initiative

The pattern at every OHI Empowerment Center is to also have a Life Center nearby to house, feed and give the best orphan care possible.

It is only by your faithful monthly sustaining gifts of $33 or more that OHI can provide "A Better Life" for these widows and orphans.

H.O.M.E. - House of Mercy

Sabiru Takes First Steps After Release From the Hospital

Sabiru was run over by a flipping truck after it's front axel broke. At first, the doctor's told OHEC Director to prepare for his burial. But the Lord answered many intercessors prayers and he woke up from his come. Then spent a few weeks in recovery and rehab with physical therapy. No he is walking on his own with a cane and a brace. He's called "the Miracle Boy."

Meet Eunice Kibuze...

Eunice is one of 16 orphan girls living at the OHI Bugembe  Emowerment Center in Eastern Uganda.

She says she feels grateful and so very blessed that people in the U.S. have provided her with tuition and a new school uniform so she can get a coveted high school diploma. Students in the U.S. tend to take their public education for granted. Students in Uganda don't have free education. We feel blessed our generous financial partners are able to help her and many others have a better life.

Eunice is holding a tray of eggs produced at the Eastern Uganda Empowerment Center which is expanding to accommodate another 200 egg laying hens.  They are cute little chicks, but just after Christmas 2023 they will begin laying eggs. The outcome is that the egg production will be doubled.

Also, Eunice is a serious Bible student who leads a weekly Bible study with the other orphan girls whose wellbeing and physical needs are graciously provided for at the Orphaned Heart Empowerment Center in Eastern Uganda. While she enjoys teaching, her dream is to become a Nurse. It just so happens that Orphaned Heart Intl will be offering opportunities for doctors and nurses to volunteer for mission trips to Uganda to offer medical services, and also to teach basic nursing skills to girls just like Eunice whose passion is to care for others. If you want to help educate Eunice, let us know by clicking the Volunteer button on the Partner With Us page.

East Uganda Empowerment Center

Poultry & Crops Project

The Poultry and Crop Project applies a Kingdom building concept that impacts an entire community.. Set in a economically poor and rural region in Eastern Uganda, the Orphaned Heart Empowerment Center (OHEC) has helped to establish a secure, free range environment for 200 Hens to lay their eggs. Right now, the eggs are being shared in the community at a Christian school with over 400 students as well as some area families in desperate need of food and protein. Corn, Soybeans, and Rice have been planted on 2 1/2 acres along with bananas, passion fruit and coffee beans to feed people. These crops are also mixed with vitamin enhanced chicken feed to create a very healthy blend for the chickens to eat. OHEC has the opportunity to double the number of chickens and eggs for the purpose of generating a revenue stream for Orphaned Heart Intl in Uganda.

2025 Poultry House Expansion Completed

Now OHI can accommodate over 1,200 Egg laying hens. Plus 300 birds dedicated to being raised for meat and a special room for 300 baby chicks. The pigs now have their own abode -- away from the chickens so their odor no longer affect the hens.

AGRICULTURE

7.5 acres of Coffee Beans, Cocoa Beans, Corn, Bananas, Passion Fruit, Mangos, and Soybeans.

OHEC planted crops for food as well as corn and bananas to feed the pigs and poultry. Free Range chickens eat ground up banana peels mixed with corn kernels.

PO Box 237, Jinga, Uganda

Orphaned Heart Int'l grows by Collaboration with vetted ministries that have started "good works" but cannot complete them on their own.

The Kuroiler chicken breed with indigenous traits which grows faster and lays more eggs than the local chicken. The birds are low- maintenance scavengers that thrive on household and agricultural waste. The mortality rate of the Kuroiler birds is very low compared to local chicken. Currently the enterprise has a stock of 700 egg laying hens. In July 2024 , OHI acquired 150 baby chicks that will be bred exclusively for meat. There are also three female pigs for breeding more pigs for meat. The people in the operational communities are peasant farmers who have been involved in all their lives in livestock. The practice is not new; it is part of the way of life of the people in the communities. that suround the Eastern Uganda OHEC. On July 25, 2024 we received a Heifer Dairy cow.

The impact is huge. Eggs and produce helps to provide daily food and nutrition for the  486 Orphaned Children at Nakalongo Christian School, 16 Children at OHEC, 18 widowed families, 5elderly, and 25 youths school drop outs and 29 converts and 7 of them are Muslims. Also, the service providers have benefited indirectly for the construction and building of the modern Poultry House .

Each OHEC offers skill training to these poor family households and needy individuals on Crop Production, Animal husbandry and other business-related subjects to provide them with the expertise they need to have a better life
