Fellowship comes from a Greek word “Koinonia” which means partnership or communion, it’s about coming together. Therefore a fellowship is a group of people who meet together on a given routine with a common goal. It’s important to remember that fellowships began way back in the Garden of Eden. In the book of Genesis, the Bible says that God visited the Garden of Eden every day to have fellowship with Adam. And we should as well not forget that fellowship is a calling, 1st Corinthians 1:9 says that we have been called upon by God to have fellowship with his son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Inner healing heals the soul level of our being, this includes our mind, emotions, will, subconscious and that is where our memories residue. This is possible when Christians become and our spirit is made pure through the Holy Spirit
Therefore after understanding what a fellowship is, we can now go ahead to know its importance to inner healing.
- First of all a fellowship is a safe place to receive inner healing prayer from those who are trained and also with prayer intercessors present. It is also a safe place for people who have received inner healing to share their experience. Many people feel comfortable and safer to open up in a fellowship knowing that they are understood and cared for in such places. In 1st Thessalonians 5: 11, Paul talks to the brethrens to encourage each other and build each other up.
- The fellowship as well reinforces inner healing. This is possible through the words that are heard and taught in the fellowship meetings. Romans 10: 17 says faith comes by hearing from other believers` testimonies and also hearing the Word of God. Now as members continue to listen, faith will become evident in their lives and it makes it possible for them to receive inner healing.
- Fellowship is a place where believers continue to grow in faith by practicing spiritual hygiene. This is explained in Acts 2: 42 which says, ”And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship in breaking of bread and in prayer”. This therefore brings about total and complete inner healing to change their heart and attitude.
